Parc naturel régional des Volcans d'Auvergne
Description
Stradding the Cantal and Puy-de-Dôme departments, the Parc des Volcans d'Auvergne extends over 120km from north to south. Its 400 000 hectares make it the largest Regional Natural Park in continental France.
This low mountain range oscillate between valleys and ridges, and ranges from 400 metres altitude to 1886 metres (Puy de Sancy peak in the Massif Central). It comprises five natural areas which their distinctive landscape : Artense, Cézallier, Monts du Cantal, Monts Dômes and Monts Dore. In these wide open spaces it is essential to take the time to explore in order to fully appreciate the scenery, fauna and flora, culture and crafts.
